The 80th Birthday Anniversary of the King of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadei, was celebrated today by the Royal Thai Consulate General and the Thai Icelandic Association. It sounds much grander than it was in reality. People came and went as they pleased and there wasn’t any visible structure of the event. It reminded me of a neighborhood picnic with a little bit of dancing, a little bit of signing and whole lot of food. The fruit carvers were fantastic though – things you can do with watermelon.
I had to come all the way to Iceland to see something that was much closer in Beijing. Hidden messages?
